In genere quando vedo delle bellissime arance tarocco non resisto....e così con le arance del mio generosissimo collega Giovanni, stasera una semplice, genuina e ricca insalata di arance.. basta poco : cipolla fresca, sale, olio d'oliva e se volete anche delle olive verdi oppure delle acciughe. Da non dimenticare un pizzìco di peperoncino rosso! ----------- When I see such beautiful Tarocco oranges I can't resist.. So, the wonderful oranges of my dear collegue Giovanni become a delicious  and genuine salad It's very easy you need just fresh onion, salt and olive oil if you like you can add some anchovies or green olives. Don't forget chili pepper, of course

Gli affreschi dell'artista russo, Oleg Supereco sono stati svelati al pubblico domenica scorsa. Si dice in giro che lo stesso pittore si occuperà degli affreschi della navata centrale prossimamente... I commenti sono positivi..... ---------- Now, the Cathedral in Noto is more beautiful, inside! The frescoes by the Russian painter Oleg Supereco are ready! It is said that he will paint the celeing of the central nave, as well. The comments are positive!

International Tourist Exchange in Milan La Borsa Internazionale del Turismo di Milano ha appena aperto i battenti.. Quest'anno la Regione Sicilia non avrà il suo stand. Il nostro governatore Lombardo ha deciso che è uno spreco,e che è un modo sbagliato di fare promozione. Ha dichiarato che avremo la nostra Borsa Internazionale del turismo a casa nostra a Palermo il prossimo maggio! Condivido il fatto che, sicuramente , il modo in cui si è fatta promozione alle fiere degli anni passati è stato spesso uno spreco di denaro! Ma invitare gli operatori a Maggio a casa nostra quando già gli affari per la stagione turistica 2012 sono conclusi è un nonsense... Comunque, l'assenza della rRgione ha fatto in modo che le provincie siciliane si organizzassero  insieme in un'unico stand, unendo le forze e promuovendo con maggiore professionalità   il nostro territorio, la nostra cultura, il nostro patrimonio. Gli stand siciliani sono sempre stati i più visitati e graditi...anc

Dopo due settimane è ancora polemica! Dopo l'invito a non comprare pomodoro ciliegino durante una trasmissione su Raiuno per le infiltrazioni mafiose sulla filiera ...è ancora polemica! Ovviamente ...per la proprietà transitiva: Sicilia = Mafia .... siciliani = mafiosi Sicilia = ciliegino ciliegino = Mafia Ma ci siamo abituati!!! Per quello che mi riguarda il pomodor Pachino è dolcissimo e buonissimo e non ci rinuncerò mai! ------------ Two weeks later it's still polemic! Passeggiando per le strade di quella che fu Noto prima del 1693, sul monte Alveria,non lontano dai ruderi della Chiesa del Carmine,  sono frequenti delle grotte con tantissime pinakes (nicchie) , una vera e propria collezione di ritratti di defunti venerati come divinità (Heroa) risalenti al periodo greco , in particolare al periodo ellenistico (III a.C.). Molte nicchie dovevano presentare ritratti dipinti sulle pareti stesse, pochi quelli che verosimilmente erano realizzate come sculture in pietra collocate al loro interno. Un colpo d'occhio bellissimo!| ---------- Walking through the lanes of the Ancient Noto ( Noto before 1693 earthquake, on the Alveria mountain.) not far from the ruins of the Church of Carmine, there are some grottos full of little niches, once containig portraits of dead people, worshipped as local heroes.( The Heroa ) They go back to the Greek time, exactly to the Ellenistic period (III b.C.) Most of the niches contained portraits painted there. S

In questi giorni lo stilista americano, ma di origini palermitane,  Danny Wise è in giro per le vie di Siracusa e di Ortigia. In un'intervista ha dichiarato: "Siracusa sarà la mia fonte d'ispirazione per la mia prossima collezione" "La mia donna ideale? Ha uno stile personalissimo fatto della stravaganza americana, dell'eleganza francese e del cromatismo del Mediterraneo" Farà ritorno a Siracusa perchè folgorato dalle bellezze di Ortigia, per la cordialità della gente e per le emozioni che regala. Buon lavoro Mr Wise ! A presto! --------- In these days the American (but born in Palermo)  fashion stylist Danny Wise, is travelling around Sicily, stopping in Siracusa.., "Siracusa will be my next source of inspiration.." he declaired.. "My ideal lady is a blend of the American extravagance, French elegance and  Mediterrenean colours" It seems Mr WIse has chosen Ortigia (Old Siracusa)  for its next collection  .

Ha pianto nell'estate del '53. Il quadretto in gesso di Maria si trova oggi all'interno del Santuario della Madonna delle Lacrime di Siracusa. Un esempio di architettura moderna in città, un progetto francese. Spesso ci tocca spiegare di cosa si tratti... Il commento più accreditato tra i turisti americani? Space shuttle, orange squeezer, UFO!!! I due archittetti che , negli anni '60 la progettarono, ebbero l'dea di realizzare una struttura che ricordasse  la forma di una lacrima.... Hmmm....non saprei, tanti non credono sia un'operazione riuscita. Comunque resta un luogo di culto caro ai fedeli..... Quello che posso dirvi, per quanto mi riguarda, che lì..e nei dintorni io sento una profonda energia... più volte ho sentito il bisogno di andare lì,in momenti difficili, semplicemente seduta,anche nel parco circostante per "sentire" una energia che percepisco come interamente femminile... ed a tutto questo l'archeologia può darci una spiegazione.Alme

Strafallaria and Dannusa. This is the way I am, sometimes! Maybe it's true...as my friends (sometimes!!??) tell me that. An example: a couple of days ago , watching Tv comfortably sitting on my sofa ,I put my glasses on the floor...sleeping a little bit. Then I woke up, I went to the kitchen to drink a glass of water.. I came back sitting on the sofa, again ...SMASHING my new pair of glasses.... Mamma mia..Che dannusa!!!!! Dannusa (sicilian) = a person who "does a little damage" Strafallaria ( sicilian)= synonimous of dannusa

A nice afternoon between sacred and profane One hour driving from Siracusa and we were in the wonderful Castle Ursino in Catania for MOdigliani exibition...   nice walking, meeting other friends...and then in perfect but wrong Sicilian style, we parked the car on second line..... just to have a look..a quick look, we said.. these days from 3th February Catania is celebrating her patron Saint S. Agata..... we did some pictures, we looked around fully forgetting about our car..... others horning reminded us...... sorry!!!! "but just for a minute!!!" (this is the common sentence people tell me when I'm waiting someone parking just behind my car on a second line! I HATE  IT!) we did..we said... sorry!
