This song, written by Vasco Rossi and Gaetano Gurrieri, two pillars of the best Italian music of the latest 20 years.... "I've seen my cellulitis growing, and my awerenesses.." (from the lyrics..) cucuzze make /cook it as you like it's always cucuzza! there are different ways of saying in Sicilian about cucuzze..that is pumkins or squash ...  I got this picture from Mariella, a collegue and friend of mine, who  immediately thought it could be  good here! Among the various initiatives in Siracusa today for celebrating the 150th anniversary of Italy: from 10.00 to 14.00: guided tour at the Ropemakers cave! It's a cave inside the greek quarries of Paradise, till late 60 used to work there by local ropemakers.. Sir Wiston Churchill enjoyed to paint his watercolours there,as well. It's not open to public since 1970'ies. It's a special event!

St. Catherine church The Luminarie Cavalcata di S. Giuseppe- St. Joseph's horse riding  in Donnalucata:it's still not St. Joseph day but Donnalucata, a small fishermen village near Scicli, celebrates  its patron saint one week before than Scicli. What a nice idea!  So everybody can enjoy both festivals! In the province of Ragusa  it's very tipical to celebrate patron saints always the Sunday before or earlier than the Saint day to give everybody the possibility to partecipate to the event!!! The theme of the horse riding is The Escape of the Holy Family from Egypt . The streets of Donnalucata are crossed by a procession of horses elegantly decorated with flowers and their jokers wear traditional  Sicilian  folkloristic clothes. At the end of the day  St. Joseph dinner and a charity acc  Non è ancora S. Ieri , guidando tra Rosolini e Cava d'Ispica......... greggi di pecore ovunque... Mi son ricordata di un pomeriggio di un paio di anni fa.. dopo un tour con un fotografo olandese, insieme girammo per le strade di campagna alla disperata ricerca di greggi di pecore da fotografare Voleva una di queste immagini di campagna siciliana per la sua rivista. Niente da fare... --------------------------------- Yesteday. driving between Rosolini (Sr) and Cava d'Ispica (Rg) .. sheep everywhere... It reminded me a couple of years ago, when, after a guided tour with a Dutch photomaker we wandered around looking desperately for sheep somewhere.... He wanted absolutely take pictures of them... an image from Sicily! we couldn't find any.

Sembra quasi un miracolo..... Dopo tanti rinvii Ikea apre le porte alla Sicilia!
