The coat of arm of the noble Cabrera family |
It' s the symbol of Pozzallo.
It was built in the XVth century by the Count Bernart Cabrera ,(one of the most famous Governors of the County of Modica) to defend the coast and the Caricatore, that is the stores of grain/wheat that Cabrera could deliver from Pozzallo without paying taxes to the King of Spain (12.000 salme of wheat tax-free, he received from the farmers of the County as taxes instead of money) .
