a little relaxing Oasis in the heart of Ortigia

guuardo  lei... l'ascolto, lei mi ascolta,  ascolto me , e dopo uno dei suoi trattamenti  tutto va meglio...

In the heart of what she feels like HER Ortigia, there's a true Oasis for your body and mind!
In Via Maestranze n. 33, in front of the pharmacy and near the Tourist information office, you find the  Centrobennessere Emy Quarrella.
I should say she works as a tourist information , too!
She really knows what to do and see in Ortigia, being more efficient of the Local tourist info point.
Raised in Milano  , but with Sicilian origins, she's really more Sicula than many other Siculi from Siracusa!!!

After a great over3othies years experience in MIlan and all around te world, Emy has decided to move in Ortigia, about ten years ago.
Great courage and great professionality!

When I asked her "Why you chose Ortigia, why just here?"
Her answer was really amasing. She told me "Lucia, it's Ortigia that chose me after travelling  a while  around Sicily. I felt in love with HER and her sea".
Maybe she likes her people  less, as lasy and "shortsighted".
I agree.

Most of her clients, especially in summer, are tourists and not only Italians, and with them  she is really the best tour promoter we can have here.
Her hands are magic and all her treatments are magic, too.
If you stay here, when you can , choose a present for you and go and try Emy's professionality.
Sometimes, I also simply like to go and visit her for a nice talk, relaxing in her sofa in that quiet and lovely courtyard of the XVIIIth  buliding where you find her centre.
It 's like a good therapy: I listen to her, she listens to me, I listen to me..and especially after  her treatment I really feel better.
We share the same love for this land, but sometimes we get so angry !
But the will to do is still a lot!

Sicily among the clouds: Ortigia - bird's eye view

six days around Sicily by helicopter this is the strongest emotion to me   flying as a bird above my  marvellous Ortigia unforgettable

The caponata of the Inspector Montalbano... simply sciavurusa!

Yesterday I was at the street market in  my Ortigia and I ate a  wonderful  caponata When  it was served at my table that marvellous vision reminded me the description given by Andea Camilleri in one of the episodes of his popular Inspector: " The moment he opened the refrigerator, he saw it.  Caponata! Fragrant, colourful, abundant, it filled an entire soup dish, enough for at least four people. It had been months since Adelina, his housekeeper, last made it for him. The bread, in its plastic bag, was fresh, bought this morning. The notes of the triumphal march of Aida came spontaneously, naturally, to his lips. Humming, he opened the French windows after turning the light one the veranda. Yes, it was a cool night, but still warm enough to eat outside. He set the little table, brought the dish, the wine, and the bread outside, and sat down " (Excursion to Tindari, Andrea Camilleri) There were three Dutch tourists reading  carefully the menu close to me
