Spring-Summer 2013 Pret a Porter Dolce & Gabbana's.  The trip through Sicily starts from Taormina, along the cost, amidst the rows of beach umbrellas punctuating the seashore to continue with religious processions, town feasts and small traditional handicraft stores selling bobbin lace, puppets and wicker baskets. With Domenico Modugno's Meraviglioso playing in the background, the collection is a celebration of life, colours, cheerfulness but most of all of traditional handicrafts and culture. The show opens with striped dresses, raffia top and full skirts, straw dresses with coral embroideries and closes with a growing crescendo of sculpted wicker bustier dresses . davvero Meraviglioso! Un tributo ai colori reali ed immaginari della cultura siciliana!

"Chi va piano, va sano e va lontano"

Nobody write and send traditional postcards anymore... It has become expensive but above all slow and complicated.. much easier to write by email or by social network... Maybe in an era where people are discovering VINTAGE.....someone will be back writing in a piece of paper again? - che nostalgia...quasi quasi esco , compro un pò di cartoline, francobolli e giù a scivere.... what nostalgia.... maybe I 'll go out and buy some postcards and stamps and then write and send...... looking for a traditional mail box! I wonder: teenagers have ever written a postcard ?

Nel cuore barocco  di Scicli, in fondo alla via Mormino Penna, nei bassi del Palazzo Spadaro si trova un piccolo museo davvero carino: Il museo della cucina Iblea. Un tuffo nel passato per non dimenticare! Davvero un bel contenitore culturale.. Un viaggio tra gli usi e costumi della terra Iblea|! -------------------------- In the Baroque  heart of Scicli (Rg), at the end of via Mormino Penna, on the groundfloor of Spadaro Palace (once the stables  and warehouses of the building):  the Hyblean Kitchen Museum!! Memory from the past, a well-done cultural space.. A voyage among uses and traditions of the Hyblean territory.. A face of Sicily proud of itself!

di carretti ce ne sono ancora di veri in giro, come questo parcheggiato nelle campagne ragusane... un pò moderno..ma i compromessi servono, rendono a volte tutto un pò più semplice..... ------------------------ it's still possible to find some true sicilian charts, like this one once I found parked in a farmhouse in Ragusa.. a  little modern, but you need compromises, to make life easier.. cucuzze make /cook it as you like it's always cucuzza! there are different ways of saying in Sicilian about cucuzze..that is pumkins or squash ...  I got this picture from Mariella, a collegue and friend of mine, who  immediately thought it could be  good here! A piece of Sicily....a cucuzza is served.... Ucca ca nun parra, si chiama cucuzza... Bocca che non parla si chiama cucuzza           Engl:   if you don't say anything, you're a cucuzza (stupid) testa ri cucuzza testa di zucca      Engl:cucuzza's head.. about people with no brain at all Do you know any?

I took this picture during my visit of the presepe vivente   in Giarratana Funny laundry, isn't it? Old kind of boxer , but, the funny way to hang the laundry somewhere has not changed.

This is year I've chosen   to visit the Presepe vivente in Giarratana , a very little town in the province of Ragusa( 3.000 thounsand souls!), where in the old section of the village they set a wonderful presepe vivente , in a natural picturesque location. It's an opportunity, not only for tourists, but especially for the sicilian children and young to show them old traditions and rural life like it was not not really long time ago in the mountain sicilian villages.
